The Problem

Penile curvature, especially in cases of hypospadias, presentssignificant challenges for surgeons and researchers. The current methods of PC evaluation suffer from subjectivity and low agreement among different observers. Traditional techniques such as visual inspection and goniometer-based measurements lack reproducibility and consistency. Moreover, the time-sensitive nature of PC measurement during surgery further complicates the process, demanding real-time and precise quantification.

The Solution

AccuCurve capitalizes on the power of AI and deep learning algorithms to automate PC measurements. Our framework comprises three stages: automatic penile area localization, shaft segmentation, and curvature angle estimation. By training a Yolov5 model, AccuCurve accurately crops the penile area from images. It then employs a Unet-based segmentation model to effectively segment the penile shaft. The final step involves a custom Hough-Transform-based angle estimation technique, yielding highly accurate PC measurements.
